If you have a cloth doll that is ready for hair, there are many techniques to create yarn hairdos. This post, tie and glue yarn hanks, is one of the easiest hairdo design techniques for your cutie!
WRAP AND CUT YARN PIECES
For this hairstyle technique, cut a pile of yarn pieces.
To wrap and cut these pieces, decide the hair length you desire, then use a wrapping guide such as a pad or shoe box top. Wrap about 1/2 of a skein of yarn. Cut along one end as shown.
See below for photo demo.
SMALL YARN HANKS
Divide yarn into several hank sets. Tightly tie hanks at centers with a yarn piece.
Pin and adjust hanks on dolls head seam until you like the placement and thickness. Glue yarn to center seam.
Tie yarn hanks in sections around side head.
Make and add more hanks if needed.
Add a hank for a side part or for bangs.
Glue yarn to scalp. Remove all pins.
Trim yarn to desired length and neatness.
Post your creations on instagram, we would love to see them!
