Sew an easy wardrobe layer

Found a pattern that will be great for some creative wardrobe expansion. This knit tunic will be perfect to layer with a cardigan and a belt, my favorite uniform! (Click photo below for more product info)

Do you love mix and match layering when shopping for fashion? I’m definitely in that club. This easy knit piece is perfect for a base layer. Yes, this is a shape that is out there on the ready-to-wear racks… but don’t you find when shopping ready-to-wear there is usually something not quite right with the style, color, fit or originality? Stitching up your own opens a whole lot more possibilities for creating a wardrobe to your taste, fit and need for individuality.

The next step will be to adjust this pattern for my shape. Once the fit is fine tuned, I will use this pattern as a sloper (a basic fitting pattern from which different styles can be created) to design layer pieces and camisoles. This simple shape will be a great “canvas” for surface design techniques I’ve been wanting to try.
