Pieces of cloth make for child’s play

A friend came over the other day with her 4 year old grand daughter. To keep her entertained, I brought out piles of plush toys, books and other kiddy stuff. The big surprise was what became her favorite “toys”: several one yard cuts of glittery cloth. These fabric pieces became the source of a wonderful dress up event! A closet doorway where some velvet curtains are hung (with clip on rings and a tension rod) added to the “theater” of dress up.

A term used in the toy industry when deciding the strength of a toy concept is “play value”. These fabric pieces measured high in play value for sure!

If you want to entertain an imaginative youngster, consider a trip to a fabric store as your next “toy” store spree for a no sew costume event.
