Sew festival wear with batik fabric

For years batik fabric has had a solid presence in the quilting and big box sewing stores. Every time I pass the bolts of batiks I think: “those beautiful organic colors and prints are a diy just waiting to happen!”

Well here it is! Batik is the inspiration for some “clip-and-rip” festival fashion and accessories with bohemian style.


Two no-sew projects:

beaded batik strips



Mix some indigo batik prints and make a stack of beaded 1/4″ strips to wear as a “necklace-scarf” or use as a trim. Click for instructions




wrap and tuck scarf



Make a comfy headband with just a few 2″ batik strips and a covered elastic band. Click for instructions




diy beach wrap


Turn on the sewing machine and stitch up a tie wrap for the pool and beach. Add on some beaded strips for some sass and swing. Click for instructions.










Batik medley

Batiks are 100% cotton and 45″ wide. The prints are beautiful on both sides of the fabric. Ready for some diy?
