SEW A PILLOWCASE

Make a pillowcase with a fun novelty print to commemorate a special occasion or favorite pastime. This is a great project for a beginner!

All you need is one yard of 45″ wide fabric and basic sewing equipment and tools to make this standard size pillowcase. No pattern is required.

CUT AND STITCH:

For a standard size pillowcase, fold one yard of fabric in half lengthwise as shown. A finished pillowcase is shown on top of the folded fabric to show the size of the folded piece.

Stitch 5/8″ seams along the two long sides and one short side. Turn pillow right side out. Press.

HEM:

Press the open edge  inside 1/4″.

Pin and press a 4″ hem to the inside. Stitch hem edge.

Done! What a tranquil mood this batik fabric print inspires!

To make a king size pillowcase as shown below, fold fabric yardage in half crosswise rather than lengthwise.

Have fun finding a fabric print that fits the occasion or moods you wish to express with your designer pillowcase!
